Dr Jo-Ann Valentine | Banstead Clinical Psychologist
Meet Dr Jo-Ann Valentine
HCPC Registered Clinical Psychologist with over 13 years of NHS experience.
My practice is built on the belief that therapy should be grounded, honest, and deeply tailored to the individual. I don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach; instead, I draw upon a range of therapeutic models to ensure our work is tailored to what you actually need. This includes systemic thinking, which helps me understand how relationships and family dynamics influence emotional health.
I specialise in helping adults navigate the complexities of mental health and the psychological impact of chronic physical illness. I also specialise in helping young people navigate their mental health and emotional well-being, in a way that aligns with where they are in their development. For those with neurodiversity, I aim to offer a neuro-affirmative approach to our work by being flexible and providing a safe space where you don’t need to 'mask' your unique natural traits.
Based in Banstead and working online across the UK, I provide a safe, collaborative space where we can work together to understand your challenges and build practical, evidence-based strategies for a more resilient future.

Clinical Specialisms
Adult Mental Health
Navigating Life’s Challenges
I provide a compassionate, containing space to explore the challenges of adult life and mental health distress. I help clients to build skills that make day-to-day life easier, while also exploring the deeper patterns that shape their emotional world. Using evidence-based tools like CBT and ACT, we work together to build resilience and clarity.
Child and Young Person Support
Guidance Through Transition
Young people face unique pressures during transitions. I offer specialist psychological support for adolescents, helping them navigate emotional difficulties, identity, and the stresses of modern education and social life.
Physical Health
The Mind-Body Connection
Physical illness rarely stays physical. I work with the understanding that your symptoms, your sense of self, and your emotional well-being are all deeply connected. I work alongside you to reduce distress, strengthen your coping strategies, and help you reconnect with what matters most.
